Megatoid Eggmatoid

Megatoid Eggmatoid came from afar
With no special purpose, a creature bizarre
His general appearance was that of an egg
Attached to a single but two footed leg
He hopped and rotated by using his toes
Of those there were twenty, the reason?
Who knows.
Megatoids face was a sight for sore eyes
He’d thirty-two ears, and his nose, what a size!

And there in the centre a large yellow eye,
Like the yoke of an egg in a pork and egg pie.
A sulphurous odour in a big purple cloud,
Hung over his head in a bilious shroud.
It stunk and it followed his every move,
And this was what Megatoid sought to remove.
His friends couldn’t stand it and nor could he
Often they’d faint or some would just flee.

On Megatoids planet the Ovula Star
Eggmatoid lawmen had issued a bar.
Megatoids banishment came as relief
No longer were noses subjected to grief.
Rejected he travelled through galaxies wide
Reflecting with rue his poor injured pride.
Megatoid slept as he bounced off our moon,
Heading for earth like a big lead balloon.

He entered the atmosphere still fast asleep
Splashed into the ocean and sank very deep.
Surfacing quickly he gurgled and spluttered
“Where can I be?” to no one he muttered.
Megatoid noticed the cloud was still there
“Oh bother!” he shouted in soggy despair.
Megatoid floated for what seemed an age
But then spied a beach with a landing stage.

Once on land, he tried to take stock
As he wrung out his only remaining sock.
I’ve had it he thought, but now I can see
The cloud must go or I’ll never be free.
So Megatoid Eggmatoid started to walk
And then he bumped into Paddy O’Rourke.
Paddy, a local, was shocked to the core
He fainted of course and sank to the floor.

“By Crikey” he gasped as he slowly awoke
And over him stooped the large yellow yoke.
With nose like a melon and so many ears!
Paddy resolved to cut down on the beers.
I’m dreaming he thought as he jumped to his feet
But the creature was real and started to bleat.
“Help me” it cried in a very strange voice
And Paddy replied “Do I have any choice?”

So Megatoid Eggmatoid told of his plight,
Of rejection, banishment, then of his flight.
Paddy was spellbound and he looked to the sky
It was not every day that an Alien came by.
“But hang on” said Paddy and he started to sniff
“I can’t smell a thing, not even a whiff”
“But the cloud” said the alien “Is it not there?”
“Can’t see it” said Paddy. “Nothing but air?”

The cloud for the moment had gone on a spree
Now Megatoid Eggmatoid seemed to be free.
He danced and he jigged and flew through the air
And then he took off like a powerful flare.
Paddy was left to ponder and think
Then his twitching nose smelt a terrible stink
Worriedly then he looked to his brow….

Guess who the cloud had adopted now!

Slumberland

Why would a Moose wear jimjams
Why would he, dont you know?
Cos a Moose gets cold at Midnight
From Antlers down to toes

A Moose may wear a nightcap
I grant you, not with ease,
And a Moose may wear four wooly socks
To warm his trembly knees

A Moose may have warm blankets
and a Moose may have a bed
A Moose may have a pillow
To rest his sleepy head.

A Moose slips in to Slumberland
No more the chilly frown
Until he wakes a Sneezing
from the floaty feather down

But a Moose just bats an eyelid
and splutters it away
Cos a Moose he needs his beauty sleep
As much as you or I.

Heat wave.

The cool fresh air tickles blue sky

And knowingly the clouds bob by.

In escalating humidity, the sun adorns its shades

as animals and tiny birds secrete themselves in glades.

The clock in hesitation; says tick…and later, tock

Hazy steam begins to form on wise and ancient rock.

The Englishman and loopy dog awake to test the day

As noon approaches scalded roaches scuttle fast away.

The wristwatch glints and sends a beam

which blinds the eye and adds a dream.

Underfoot where skin may sizzle

Hopscotch hops to hosepipe drizzle.

Mercury can’t find release

So happiness may never cease.

The gargantuan iron leviathan cuts deeply through the murk
And a twinkling star plays diamond to the hazy mist.
Below the silence of the hidden power is broken
but only by the gush of angry, froth crested waves
In the wee hours.
In the gloom of the night, then the mind holds fears
Untold fears of desperate loneliness and isolation
Of floating alone as light and hope passes.
But there is nothing, not even a gull to witness
The fluorescent swirling magic that teases the eye
Into believing that something beautiful flashes by
Tainted only by the moonlight and perception.
Illusion maybe, but only a prelude to what may come.
For the clouds race and the swell begins to growl
Knowing wise minds turn to within and pray for calm.

Summers Day

The breeze rolls in with a warm summer wave
to fashion a swathe of grass, velvet green.
As the blades comply, they hustle and rave
resplendent in shades of aquamarine.

The light plays tricks that chameleons mock
brightening flowers in hazy day steam.
The breeze makes merry, as time turns the clock
the sun arcs higher to render a dream.

Composed and enraptured the trees look on
they rustle their leaves to honour the day.
Gentle folk stroll there but soon they are gone
they go hand in hand and happily pray,
for Hay wain and nature, sunshine and peace
from cold and winter they welcome release

Mr Biddle goes to Lidl.

Mr Biddle went to Lidl
to get some meat
to grill on a griddle

When Mr Biddle got to Lidl
He got a pain
right in his middle

The Pain in Mr Biddle’s middle
Made him wince and awkwardly fiddle
with his braces and his tie
He hoped the pain would soon pass by.

‘What could it be?’ Said Mr Biddle
‘Fiddlesticks. Oh Fiddle Fiddle.’

A thought occurred to Mr Biddle
Perchance he thought, I need a tiddle
I’ll find a Loo and have a piddle

So off he went did Mr Biddle
He found a Loo and did a widdle

‘Oh Relief’ cried Mr Biddle

Tiddle, tiddle, piddle, widdle

‘The pain has gone
Hey diddle diddle
No more aching in my middle’

So take advice from Mr Biddle

Dont go off to shop in Lidl

Unless you’ve had a
Jimmy Riddle.

Kangalions

Kangalions roam

crouching in bunches,

springing from loam

And then in a moment

they take to the sky

and only the breeze

has an inkling why.

The Twonk

Have you ever seen a Twonk ?

Or have you ever seen a Gonk?

Remember them, those ugly gits
they used to scare me half to bits.

So if you’ve ever seen a Twonk
You’ll know it’s nothing like a Gonk,

A Twonk has massive hairy mits
and moves about in starts and fits.

Most Twonks have got enormous conks
and ears they borrowed from some donks,

Ee-aw Ee-aw and fleas and nits
those Twonks they really are the pits.

So if ye see one, parp and honk
so others near can bonk and clonk
‘em with a club, give them some hits

Yes give those Twonks a right old blitz!

Winkles

Crashing roaring waves recede

Retracted by magnetic moon

Spring tide reveals

Uncharted sands

And in the distance,

Winkle picking hands.

Contesting with the stars

that pacify the sea

their torchlight twinkles

Like dancing wraiths

As they reap the bounty

Once beneath the waves.

On Sepia horizon

Glistening the boats

Bob silently alone

As fishermen sleep

And dream of the deep

A dry dock and a home.
